CEO, Co-Founder
Mike Garcia is an entrepreneur, online content creator, and music educator/performer. In 2019, after being a full-time percussion director since 2012, Mike changed careers to pursue several different freelance opportunities as they pertain to eCommerce, online marketing, and music performance/education.
After marching with the Madison Scouts snare line in 2007, Mike became a member of the Phantom Regiment snare line and marched in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
In 2008, Phantom Regiment placed 1st at the DCI World Championships. In 2008 and 2010, the Phantom Regiment won the Fred Sanford High Percussion Award. His teachers included Paul Rennick, Roger Carter, Ellis Hampton, Jeremy Noyes, and Brian Lowe.
Mike’s experience led him to work with other high school programs in the area such as Berkner High School, Marcus High School, Hebron High School, Richland High School, Duncanville High School, Lebanon Trail High School and Southwest High School. From teaching private lessons to teaching full percussion ensembles and drumlines, Mike developed a strong passion for teaching music. Since 2018, Mike has worked with The Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps as both a Snare Technician and Battery Instructor from working off-season camps to move-ins/on the road throughout the summer.
From 2014-2019, Mike was the Percussion Director at L.V. Berkner High School in Richardson, TX focusing on 6th-12th grade percussion. During his time at Berkner HS, the percussion program had received numerous recognitions and accolades. In 2018, the Berkner Percussion Studio was selected as a winner of the highly-acclaimed PAS “Call for Tapes” International Percussion Ensemble Competition. Berkner HS was selected out of numerous high schools throughout the country (with some from other countries) and were invited to perform at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Indianapolis, IN on November 16, 2018. Four world premieres were debuted at that performance written by some of the most notable percussion composers in the genre: Jim Casella, Ivan Trevino, and Dr. Dave Hall. Additionally, the Berkner Percussion Ensemble placed 2nd in the Black Swamp Percussion Ensemble Showcase, a national contest open to high schools all across the country, with their submission, “Collide” by Jacob Remington. The Berkner HS Drumline continues to attend several drumline contests annually and consistently place in the top ranks with other drumlines across the state of Texas. Prior to his time at Berkner HS, Mike was at Southwest High School from 2012-2014.
Mike received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Texas Christian University. Among many other ensembles, he was a member of the highly-acclaimed TCU Percussion Orchestra (Consistent Winner of the PAS “Call for Tapes” Competition) and was able to perform at the PASIC Showcase Concert in 2008 and 2011. He has also traveled extensively with percussion ensembles to perform at venues such as the Sydney Opera House in Australia and Merkin Hall in New York City.
Although Mike maintains a busy work schedule, he enjoys his time as a freelance performer and educator. Mike has performed with the Dallas Cowboys Drumline and will continue to perform as a member of the Dallas Mavericks Drumline and Dynamic Rhythm Entertainment throughout the DFW metroplex. He will continue to do freelance work throughout the area as a clinician and judge. He is excited about continuing at the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps and beginning his new journey with Vigilantes Indoor Percussion.
He is a proud endorser of Innovative Percussion, Inc.
